Recap of previous email on topic:
Our current plans are to partner with churches across the U.S. for 7 days to 2 weeks at a time during February through the end of April of 2008. We will drive our family in a motor coach to your location and be on site with you and your staff during a specified period of time. During that time we will serve you and your congregation through:
- Evaluation of Systems and Structures for growth
- Leadership development of pastors, staff, and lay leaders
- Small Group Ministry Development
- Sunday School & Small Group Development as a both/and strategy
- First impression evaluations, ministry development and implementation as well as enlistment, training, and placement of volunteers
- Follow-up and Assimilation of guests
And don’t forget we can help you with your planning for Easter and follow-up strategies.
If you are interested in having us serve with your congregation during our 3 month road trip, please contact us and let’s put something together.
With only days away before the one of two of the biggest weekends for the Christian church let me encourage us all to remember this is a time for serving others.
Since one of our core concepts at Street to the Seat is helping pastors and lay leaders make a, “CONTRIBUTION” we want you to understand your S.H.A.P.E. as you serve others. Contact us if you need help in this specific area.

The reason this comes to mind is that during the holiday season pastors and staff have a tendency to use our “titles” to get things done or not do things. It can feel to our membership like we are using the weight of our titles to push them around. And we never want that to be the case. That wouldn’t be leadership or shepherding. That would be dictatorship…not good!
I was reminded of this in my Bible reading this morning in Luke 22. Just after the passover meal a disturbance broke out among those with Jesus.
“24 Also a dispute arose among them as to which of them was considered to be greatest. 25 Jesus said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors. 26 But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves. 27 For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves. 28 You are those who have stood by me in my trials. 29 And I confer on you a kingdom, just as my Father conferred one on me, 30 so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”
Don’t let your busyness this year limit you from serving others. Leave your title at the door and “show up… palms up“.
Let’s focus our time/energy this coming weekend on complete and total service to others.
Pastor Lance with Replenish Ministries continues with the third in a four part blogging piece on “Confessions of a Pastor”.
” The badge of busyness is one that we ministers often wear with honor, but in reality it is a curse to the health of a soul.”

As posted by the Barna Group:

“A special analysis of thousands of interviews …conducted during 2007 identifies several patterns that are significantly affecting the development of American culture.
Those transformations were described as Americans’ unconditional self-love; nouveau Christianity; the five Ps of parenting; and designer faith with rootless values.”

Here is something that came as a suggestion from some friends of ours and was followed up by pastors in Arkansas, Maryland, and Texas to Street to the Seat, so we are going to do our dead level best to serve you… alongside of you.
Stephanie (my wife) and I are putting together in the next 30 days a Texas size road trip for STS to join you in the trenches for February, March, and April of 2008. Of course, we’ll need your support, but we know we can pull this together.

We have set a goal of providing our services FREE to churches running less than 300 in attendance. So, this morning I received an email from a pastor in San Antonio, Texas that is ready to see our goal come to completion.
We are working diligently to secure funding so we can help churches like his in San Antonio, Texas take healthy next steps at no cost.
To make this dream a reality, we need your support.
Help us… help others.

Well…Pastor Lance has done it again with at great look into the lives of pastors. This time he hits on “Image Management“.
“You are walking in a ministry mine field when your experience and skill and outward success begins to outpace your character and soul.”
Wished I could say that I haven’t struggled with this one, but I’d be lying. I have and I’m sure you have as well.
