OverDrive

Got to kick it this morning with Pastor Pat the venue pastor of the OverDrive worship venue. Great time of worship through music. Just another way of helping persons experience Jesus in a less than tradition method.

Casper the Friendly Atheist

I’ve have so enjoyed the book, “Jim & Casper Go To Church” that I purchased 15 copies for my staff and others in the offices. I just can’t stop talking about what I am learning from this 167 page read.

Things Jim & Casper bring to light during the read:

  • What is, and how compelling is, the call to action?
  • How is the Word of God integrated into practical examples of living the faith?
  • What prior knowledge and belief does the church assume attenders possess?
  • Is the church more interested in conversation or conversion? In dialogue or debate?
  • How accessible is the heart and mind of the ministry?
  • Is the church engaging people or performing for them?
  • How realistic is the teaching? Is it the result of proof-texting or contextualization?
  • What is the church’s capacity for listening?
  • Is this a body of believers who are more interested in serving or being served?
  • What makes a church genuine and authentic in its interaction with people?
  • How honest are Christians in discussing the cost of following Christ?

Ads by Google

I added “Ads by Google” to the blog. You’ll notice they are located in the lower right hand tool bar of the blog. Trying to offset the cost of what I am investing in research and blogging.

However be advised that “I do not support everything” in the ads. Google searches my blog daily and based on an automated word search of my blog they post ads. The more I write the better the selection will become. I’m sure I’ll choose my words more carefully from now on.

“Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and no man comes to the Father except by Him.”

Might as well start watching my words with this blog. Huh?

Didn’t want you to be misled by the ads.

Church Rater

Alright boys and girls…so we say we are here to learn from each other on how to move someone from not believing in Christ to believing, following, and belonging to Christ and His church. Well then here is something I ran across this week that you might find interesting.

Want to know what others really think about our churches, I’ve found a website that might interest you.

We have for years mailed postcards with our first time attender letters and asked them to give us feedback…anonymously of course. The best return rate I can ever remember was 7 - 10% and the information has for the most part been very valuable to us.

What if someone were to send persons to www.churchrater.com instead and have them put live posts where user-generated discussions could occur?

Would it be helpful or not?

I’d love to hear your feedback.

Time to say, "THANKS"

Hey gang! Just wanted to share with you a special thanks to my family for allowing me to do what I do. Over the past 10 years my wife has been my biggest supporter in helping persons choose Christ and belong to the church family.

In addition, she and the boys have gone without seeing me on multiple occasions so that I could travel and be with you in your churches as I consult with many of you.

So I thought I’d drop a post just to say thanks to Stephanie and the boys and so that you can see her blog as well. She is a great friend, very gifted and godly woman, wonderful wife, and terrific mom.

Riders 4 Christ Update

Several of you have asked for more info on Riders 4 Christ as a conversation starter in your community. Here is a video clip of an event that was hosted to draw persons in for a spiritual conversation.
Please contact Kyle Loza and his team at Riders 4 Christ to have them minister in your community.

It’s a BELONGing thing: choosing Christ and the Church Family

I am more energized in these past few days than I’ve been in some time. Do you know what mean? When you hear the Spirit revealing to you to be confident in your calling.

My calling is simple.

“Make the most of every opportunity to help persons choose Christ and belong to the church family.”

Our desire is to help every pastor, church leader, and congregation do that very thing.

We look forward to helping you define your purpose, objectives, strategies, and tracking as you help your churches become healthy, holy, and humble.

Praying for you tonight!

ebay Atheist: opening the conversation

After reading “Jim & Casper Go To Church” I found this GREAT VIDEO clip today to help you see the logic of asking a non-believer about their impression of the church.

Worth the Read

Not that I agree with everything, but it is well worth the read.
