Why Does It Matter?

It matters that you are concerned with moving persons from the street to the seat as you help them choose Christ and belong to the church family because guys like Bill S. from London, Ontario who writes these words on the back of the latest Starbucks Coffee cup are looking for a place to belong. Bill writes:

Why in moments of crisis do we ask God for strength and help? As cognitive beings, why would we ask something that may well be a figment of our imaginations for guidance? Why not search inside ourselves for the power to overcome? After all, we are strong enough to cause most of the catastrophes we need to endure.”

My challenge for us all this weekend is to recognize that there are tens of thousands of “Bill’s” in this world who are searching inside themselves “the natural”, for something that can only be explained outside themselves “the supernatural”. As you prepare for services this weekend encourage your volunteer/staff teams to be prepared for persons to encounter folks just like Bill who are in their own catastrophes this week.

Let’s show some grace!
